There are many representatives of British culture within the film, many of which comply with stereotypes for instance the full English breakfast fry up, the mini cooper and the infamous church wedding, to name but a few. Yet there were some circumstances which do not conform with these, for instance the use of an American actress (Andie MacDowell) amongst classic British performers like Hugh Grant, James Fleet and Rowan Atkinson, diverts from Britishness, but is used in order to lure American audiences, creating the the huge success that follows this film.
