Magazine analysis

I have decided to look through Kerrang magazine as even though it is based around the rock genre is also features alternative music which is the genre our band is categorsised within. Flicking through the pages it is clear that block colours and big writing are the main focus throughout due to the loudness of the alternative genre and it's 'random' nature. A lot of creative illustrations are used throughout instead of photos of the band, to make themselves different which seems to be the main focus of the alternative genre - whoever can be more different.  I will remember the features when making my magazine article, especially the use of block colours (mainly black) and the use of illustrations to portray difference and creativity.
